The Medicine Buddha, Bhaishajyaguru is described as having the color of beryl, a stone of translucid blue color, granted with therapeutic benefits for those who wear it.
In his left hand, he holds a bowl filled with medicinal herbs. In his right hand, he holds an “arura” stalk, considered to be the queen among the medicinal plants.
His compassion is extended towards all sufferance of sentient beings.
